Example estimates, not a quote. Assumes about 30¢ per kWh today, the yearly rate increase you pick, about 1,600 kWh per kW per year from an LA rooftop, 400 watt panels, 0.5% yearly panel output loss, a system sized to your usage, and an example installed price of $2.50 per watt paid in cash. About 10% of your bill is assumed to remain. The 25 year figure keeps the same yearly rate increase and panel output loss for the full 25 years, assumes today's net metering rules hold, and doesn't include future maintenance or equipment replacement. Financing changes the math. Your real number depends on your roof, shade, usage and tariff.

The Good News

You're With LADWP? That's Your Edge.

Your buddies on SCE got stuck with NEM 3.0, which pays them pocket change for extra power and shoves a battery in their face. LADWP runs its own program, and its customers still get net metering. Use it.

1

Your Roof Clocks In

The sun shows up for work every single day. Now your panels do too.

2

Your House Eats First

Your home runs on your own power before buying a single kWh from anybody.

3

Extra Goes Back for Credits

Make more than you use and the extra can earn bill credits under LADWP's current rules.

Credits are subject to LADWP's current net metering rules and may not offset all charges on your bill. For most LADWP solar-only projects a battery is optional. Program rules can change; we'll walk you through what currently applies to your address.

Straight Answers

Questions. Answered Like a Human.

Will I still receive an LADWP bill?
Yes. You're still their customer, just a much smaller one. Solar cuts how much power you buy from them. Anybody promising you a $0 bill forever is selling something.
Do I need a battery?
On LADWP, usually no. Net metering lets solar do the heavy lifting. A battery makes sense if you want backup power during outages, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it for you.
What happens during a power outage if I don't have a battery?
A standard grid tied system shuts off during an outage so the line crew fixing the wires doesn't get zapped, even in broad daylight. Want the lights on during outages? That's what a battery is for.
Is there still a federal solar tax credit?
The federal homeowner solar tax credit ended after 2025. We don't count it in any number we show you. If someone's still pitching it to you on a new purchase, ask them to put it in writing and watch them sweat.
How accurate is the 10 year plan?
It's an honest ballpark built on typical LA numbers: today's LADWP rates, the yearly increase you pick, and an example installed price. Your real number depends on your roof, shade and usage. A Future Energy expert confirms everything with a site visit before you sign anything.
Who actually does the install?
Our own crew. No subs, no mystery van. The company you talk to is the company on your roof and the company that picks up when you call later.
What does "same price, start to finish" mean?
The price in your signed contract is the price you pay. No surprise fees after the fact. The only thing that changes it is you changing the job, like adding panels or a battery.
Does solar make sense if my electric bill is relatively low?
Then the honest answer might be "not yet." We'd rather lose the sale than sell you a system that doesn't pay.
What happens if I sell my house?
A system you own generally stays with the house. If it's financed, the loan terms decide what happens at sale. We'll walk you through it before you commit.
My solar company went out of business. Now what?
Hit "Check My System" on this page and tell us what's on your roof. We'll look at what you've got and tell you straight whether we can help.
How long does installation take?
The install itself is quick. Permits and LADWP interconnection are the slow part, because of course they are. We'll give you a real schedule for your house, not a fairy tale.

Stop Renting Your Power. Start Owning It.

Two quick steps. A real Future Energy expert looks at your house and calls you with a straight answer. Worst case, you find out exactly how much they've been taking.

Step 1: Your House

Electric only, not water, sewer or trash.

Future Energy is an independent solar contractor, CSLB License #1024289, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP). Savings figures on this page are illustrative estimates, not quotes or guarantees, and the "save up to" figures in the bill examples are an estimated reduction in your electric bill, not net of system cost. They assume an effective cost of about 30¢ per kWh, about 1,600 kWh per kW per year of production, and a system sized to your stated usage, and are capped at 90% of your bill. Actual results depend on your roof, shading, usage, equipment, final system size and the LADWP tariff in effect. LADWP rate figures reflect the standard residential (R-1A) tier rates for July through September 2026 and change periodically. Net metering credits and eligibility are governed by LADWP's current rules and may change. Solar-only systems generally do not provide power during a grid outage unless equipped with approved backup. The federal residential homeowner solar tax credit ended after 2025 and is not included in any figure here. The 10 year plan compares paying LADWP with an example cash purchase at $2.50 per watt plus the remaining bill, assumes 0.5% yearly panel output loss, and uses the yearly rate increase you select; LADWP's historical average was about 5% a year from 2015 to 2024. Every estimate is confirmed by a site assessment.
